Food, Music

Spring has sprung in North Carolina, which means that this bear is finally coming out of her den on warmer nights and socializing with others in public settings. It also means that there are actually things to do, and people therefore are planning more things to do on top of those things to do because they know people will do those things, too. Combined with allergies, all this activity makes my brain hurt a little bit.

So, allow me to list, for my memory’s sake and as a small salute to who I used to be, some Charlotte/NC music-related events I plan on attending in the coming weeks, if I can afford them all:

April 17 – The Adulterers @ SK NetCafĂ©

April 29 – Dinosaur Jr. @ Neighborhood Theatre

May 1 – The Fool’s Brigade benefit concert (Rolling Stones tribute by Charlotte bands) @ The Neighborhood Theatre

May 9 – Bike Charlotte benefit concert (w/ Acoustic Syndicate side project and Custom Grass Revue, plus other bands TBA) @ Amos’ Southend

May 12 – Ghost w/ Magik Markers @ Grey Eagle in Asheville

June 11 – TV On the Radio @ Amos’ Southend

June 12 – Jane’s Addiction & Nine Inch Nails @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

June 17 – Band of Horses @ Neighborhood Theatre

There are a bunch of Charlotte/NC literary events coming up, too, but I’ll post those separately.

    nine inch nails, really?

  2. Emily Says:

I’m not a huge fan, but they’re OK. And Trent Reznor is kinda hot, even if he shaved his head. Although, it will be funny to see them in daylight, as I’m sure it won’t get dark until about an hour before that outdoor venue closes. But mostly, I want to see Jane’s Addiction!

I’m going to attempt to attend a handful of these shows depending on my health and the health of my doggy!

You should see NIN! Their live show is a radical time warp.

You’re going to see Dinosaur, Jr this month?!?!?! I hate you!

Also, Band of Horses would have been cooler to see in, oh, 2006 or so. But good luck to you if you want to fight the screaming hordes of prep school teenagers. For the right price, I probably would too.

aaakk!! TV on the Radio is going to be here???!! Emily, how do I get tickets??!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. emily Says:

hey Rachel – good question! They’re on etix, and there’s a link on the calendar page on Amos’ Southend’s website. $25 a piece with $5 “convenience fee.” But I’m going to see if I can buy mine at Manifest or Lunchbox Records this weekend to avoid the fee. Hopefully, they won’t be sold out my then!

Maureen – yep! and Dinosaur Jr. would have been cooler to see about 10 years ago ;)

I would prioritize my cash stash for these events, and, or, steal and see them all: Dinosaur Jr (one of my all-time faves) Band of Horses (saw them with Iron and Wine and they were deserved a longer set, fo sho) and Jane’s Addiction (saw at Lollapalooza while my flesh fried in the Atlanta sun and it was worth it. Plus, you never know when a band like that will hang it up for good, not to mention with NIN, a great show I’m sure) TV on the Radio (never seen but would like to)
